On January 30, 1998, I slipped and fell flat on my back carrying water from a leaking water heater in our basement. For the next many years, I was seen by my family doctor, a physical therapist, and a back specialist, but nobody was ever able to give me relief. I could not walk well, sit in a chair, or lay down in a bed and sleep. I was in constant pain. I went to the Twin Cities Spine Center for SI injection shots, but they only gave me temporary relief.
On February 28, 2005, I went to Minneapolis and had the SI fusion surgery with Dr. Stark. In my eyes, it was all success for me. I have absolutely no pain and no longer need to take any pain medications. I can walk, sleep at night, sit in comfort, travel in the car, and put my shoes and socks on—I can do it all with no pain. I have returned to work part-time as a pharmacy clerk, a job I could hardly do prior to the surgery.
I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat. I plan to start to enjoy my life. I am thankful for Dr. Stark. He truly has a gift to help people with SI joint problems. I am so glad he is here for all of us. I just wish it did not take me eight years to find him for this surgery.
